Geography GCSE
Geography is an increasingly popular KS4 subject at Ratton. We study the AQA A syllabus which is made up of 50/50 physical and human Geography.
Topics across Years 10 & 11:
Restless Earth (Plate Tectonics)
Water on the Land (Rivers and Flooding)
Coastal Zone
Controlled Assessment based on a field trip within the local region.

Equipment:
The department provides textbooks. Students can opt to buy their own revision books from the school at a discounted price.
Homework requirements:
A variety of homework is given including follow-up activities, writing essays and doing fieldwork in the local area.
Assessments:
Two exam papers make up 75% of the final exam grade. Controlled Assessment makes up the other 25%.
In order to prepare students for their final exams, students will be assessed at the end of each topic by answering past exam questions.
Fieldwork:
Field trips are arranged to support learning in various topics and to help students complete their coursework.
Extra-curricular support:
After-school/extra-curricular support sessions are available at key times for coursework and exam preparation. At any other time by arrangement with the teacher.
