Students are assessed through controlled assessments and examination.

Four assignments: 2 x Creative Writing, Of Mice & Men and Spoken Language.
One Examination 25%
Section A: testing understanding of non-fiction and media texts.
Section B: 2 x writing tasks.
English Literature
Controlled Assessment 25%
Shakespeare comparison.
Two Examinations 75%
Paper 1: Exploring Modern Texts.
Section A: An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley.
Section B: Of Mice & Men by John Steinbeck.
Paper 2: Poetry Across Time
Section A: Character & Voice Anthology Poems.
Section B: Responding to an unseen poem.
Controlled Assessment Deadlines
Year 10
Term 1 - Creative Writing piece 1.
Term 3 - Creative Writing piece 2.
Term 4 - Of Mice & Men.
Term 5 - Spoken Language Study.
Year 11
Term 1- Shakespeare & The Literary Heritage.
General Guidance
It is crucial that students meet all controlled asssessment deadlines.
Students are expected to be in school full time in the lead up to the controlled assessments and in the planning hours prior to the assessment. These assessments are completed in controlled conditions to reduce the risk of plagerism.
